Apple knows about the future.
Apple has had a track record of accurate predictions. Inventing the iPhone and growing into a 1trillion dollar company isn’t something that happens by chance.
The recent OS update gives an indication of what’s in store for us.
1. Facebook tracking pixel is blocked on Safari
On Apple’s new update, Social media tracking pixels have been blocked on Apple’s Safari browser, making it much harder for Facebook to advertise and re-target you. What platforms are coming next?
2. iPhone Time limits and screen time alerts
In the latest iPhone release, iOS 12, Apple released a feature that tracks how much time you spend on your phone and what apps you use. You can set restrictions, daily time limits, and app usage.
So who do you think will be most impacted? most? Think about the two biggest time sucks on your iPhone: Facebook and Instagram. Finally, we’ll all have a greater awareness of the time wasted and more control of the present moment.
3. “Dark mode” Mac’s new OS
In “Mojave”, Mac’s latest OS, Apple is trying to make it easier for you to focus on tasks. With the introduction of “Dark Mode”, which darkens the system and puts a focus on your content.
What’s the big learning from these updates, and where does Apple think the future is headed?
Apple recognizes that the world is oversaturated by disruptive information and we are seeking more FOCUS!
There will be more emphasis on quality content experiences that enable focus, utility, and value.
They are guiding their users away from distraction and towards self-control.
I believe that over the next 10 years new technologies will emerge to provide us more controlled, safe and focused experiences. Brands will be racing to “protect” their Users from infiltration and over saturation of irrelevant content and technology.
Because in this rapidly changing, technologically advanced global world we live in, its become more about what you ignore rather than what you pay attention to.
